Crazy celeb crushes

January 28, 2010 | Filed Under What's cookin' goodlookin'?

Firstly sorry for being lazy and not replying to comments, reading entries and commenting! I’m seriously just so caught up with SIMS 3 (SERIOUSLY WHY GOD WHY! WHY DID THEY INVENT THIS THING?!). Every time I’m on the computer I’m either tweeting or playing Sims 3. It’s insane, I’m insane. I need a life HAHA.

Emma tagged me in a meme where you post top five guys you used to like. Aw man, I have so many so I’m just going to pick the first five I remember.

1. Andy Roddick

I was seriously 12 or 13 and I was super obessed like insanely obsessed. So obsessed my friends used to surprise me with printed pictures of him and my good friend Joselyn made a birthday card with him on it that I’ve lost hahahahaaaaaaaaaaa. Now he’s married and he’s balding… but ahhh, that American charm and wit! I will always have a small place for Andy Roddick.

2. Yamapi aka Tomohisa Yamashita

When NEWS first debuted I actually really like Ryo Nishikido because he was angry and cute and Yamapi was skinny and girly looking but then he manned up! Actually he got chubby then manned up! I have all these random Johnny’s mags with him on the cover from like 4 years ago. So sad… my monies.

3. Robert Carmine

Wooooo, this brings back so many memories. He was adorable in Princess Diaries, the Rooney debut album really just made me like him even more. As with everyone ‘celeb’ I’ve liked I watched all these videos with him in it 24/7. Ahhhh, there’s that American charm and wit again!

4. Hiroki Narimiya

Awww, another Japanese guy. He was 100% the reason why I got into Japanese stuff. In  fact the only reason I watched Nana was because of him. He’s so adorable and he has the same birthday as me! Teeeeeheeeeeee :3

5. Gaspard Ulliel

I wasn’t actually going to mention him since you all know I adore the man but how can I resist. French, hot, talented!

Other memorable mentions: Taylor Kitsch, Matsumoto Jun, Kamenashi Kazuya – basically all the cute Johnny’s guys and I’m sure I’ve forgotten a whole heap of dudeys that I used to like.

I tag everyone who hasn’t been tagged since everyone’s basically done this :P

I love vacation time!

I haven’t been doing anything interesting lately besides going to work, watching tennis and Friday Night Lights and playing Sims 3 (I am so obsessed it’s not healthy!). Today I went to get some frozen yoghurt in Kings Cross with two of my favourite people Noeleene and Brandy, funnily enough I don’t have any pictures with them from today, haha. In other news, I am waiting on two parcels from ASOS and from Sasa.

And now on to random pictures I have sitting in my camera.

Some flats from Siren I got a few weeks ago for only $40, pretty good for suede! I’m so tempted to pick up another pair to keep as back-up incase these die.

Frozen yoghurt from Igloo Zoo! 99.9% fat free minus the toppings. I got mango, toasted muesli and organic chip choc crunch. Yum yum, such a cute place too!

Famous Coco-Cola sign in Kings Cross! I never get sick of looking at it or taking a picture of it –I think this is my 4th :P

Reminding myself to keep working hard to get to places I want to be.

P.S. Noely, I can’t get over Jolene, Jolene, Jolene and the cute guy at the bottle shop. So cute with his gross ear plug and undies showing LOL.

Ding dong the witch is dead!

My sister’s brother had a costume party last Friday night with the theme of movies. I came dressed as the Wicked Witch of the West. I got to wear the jacket above that I got over the Christmas sales. I love the material and the little zippers on the arms! This costume should not be attempted in summer, haha. It was sooooo hot and I wasn’t even wearing the stockings I was planning to. I practically melted by the end of the night evident by this:

Note to self: don’t smile like this anymore, it’s so awkward, haha.

Me and some of the girls. I have no clue who the two at the back are but the guy is dressed as Laurent from Twilight and he was freaky like hell LOL.

Besides that all I’ve really been doing is working and watching Friday Night Lights which I am totally obsessed with. I looooooove it! It’s become one of my favourite shows now, it’s just so awesome. How can you say no to the Texas drawl, sexy teenage footballers and funny one liners like, “Captain of the HMAS tatas”? Oh and I almost forgot how could you say no to the incredibly hot Tim Riggin’s aka Taylor Kitsch?

Am I right ladies?! …Thought so. Now I’m going to dream myself a Tim Riggins minus the drinking and bad influential brother but not minusing the bad boy attitude and everything else that is so great about Tim Riggins. What a hunk! :P

EDIT: Macaron recipe will be posted in the next entry if people are still interested. It’s just very long so I have no clue how to write it up without it being too wordy and I definitely do not want to scan it.

Macarons!

January 7, 2010 | Filed Under La nourriture

I love macarons! Why? Because they’re French, sweet and totally indulgent. I’ve always thought were were very temperamental. After watching countless contestants on Masterchef fail at making them I thought I’d fall victim to that too. Fortunately I did not and thus I AM A GENIUSSSSSSSS :D

Haha, okay my first batch weren’t great because they were overly sweet with a very disgusting butter cream. I don’t usually like butter so I guess butter cream just isn’t for me and also I overcooked them. I followed the recipe found in I Love Macarons by Hisako Ogita. It’s such a lovely book, it’s very simple to understand, minimal words and lots of pictures, I guess in a nutshell it’s very Japanese.

For my 2nd batch I tweaked the recipe found in the book firstly by halving the quantity. I found that there was just simply too much batter for me to make everything in one go. So instead of having around two dozen macarons I only had about 10. I also tweaked the cooking time, I found that cooking it at 200°C for 15 minutes was just too much. My oven is a gas one so I preheated the oven to 200°C, put the tray in and turned it off for 6 minutes and then cooked it at 160°C until it was firm enough to remove from the baking paper. These came out perfectly. They weren’t as sweet because of the matcha powder and the ganache had just the right amount of sweetness to it.

If anyone would like the recipe I used I’ll post it but I really recommend buying Ogita’s book, if not for the recipe’s, for how pretty the book is in general. It’s not too expensive too which is great! :)
